Ape Hand

weakness of extensor muscles that pull the thumb parallel with the fingers and flexion of MCP and IP are weakened

Bishop’s Deformity

weakness where medial fingers assume a resting posture of flexion in the PIP and DIP joints

Claw Hand

weakness resulting in extension of the MCP joint and flexion of. the PIP and DIP joint

Dupuytren’s Contracture 

excessively flexed, inability to passively or actively extend the MCP and PIP joints of the involved fingers

Swan Neck Deformity

flexion of the MCP and DIP joints and hyperextension of the PIP joint

Volkmann’s Contracture

flexion contraction of the wrist and fingers 

Jersey Finger

inability to actively flex the DIP joint

Mallet Finger

inability to actively extend the DIP

Boutonnière Deformity

extension of the MCP and DIP joints and flexion of the PIP joint
