Solid State Drive (SSD)
A data storage device that uses flash memory to store data, without moving parts, making it faster and more durable.
Disk Partitioning
The process of dividing a hard disk drive into separate sections to manage multiple file systems.
RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks)
A technology that combines multiple hard drives into a single unit for redundancy, performance, or both.
Inode
A data structure on a filesystem that stores information about a file or directory.
Disk Fragmentation
The condition of a disk where files are stored in non-contiguous spaces, leading to inefficiencies in storage.
Volume Management
A system for managing disk space more flexibly by allowing logical volumes to span multiple physical drives.
Mounting
The process of making a file system accessible at a certain point in the directory tree.
NFS (Network File System)
A protocol that allows a user on a client computer to access files over a network as if they were on a local disk.
