Eating Disorders (EDs)
Characterized by seriously disturbed eating behaviors like food restriction or uncontrolled eating episodes, and weight-control behaviors such as self-induced vomiting or excessive exercise.
Anorexia Nervosa
A complex mental illness with high rates of psychiatric comorbidity, medical morbidity, and mortality, characterized by low body weight or BMI and intense fear of weight gain.
Bulimia Nervosa
Characterized by regular urges to overeat (binge), followed by compensatory behaviors like self-induced vomiting or excessive exercise to avoid weight gain.
Binge Eating Disorder
Recurrent episodes of binge eating without compensatory behaviors; can occur in people who are normal weight, overweight, or obese.
