20 Fr foley catheter inserted using sterile technique x1 attempt for acute urinary retention. 10 mL sterile saline used to inflate balloon. Catheter attached to left inner thigh with stat lock. Peri care provided after procedure. Bag secured to non-moveable part of the bed frame beneath bladder level. 230 mL clear yellow urine noted in collection bag. Sterile urine sample collected at time of insertion and sent to lab. Patient stated that the procedure was "slightly uncomfortable" but tolerated well. Patient educated on S/S to report including pain, spasms, or fever. Patient verbalized understanding.
