what is the equation / reaction of photosynthesis ?
6CO2 + 6H2O → C6 H12 O6 + 6O2
what does the term Photolysis means ?
photosystem II contains enzyme which split water into the presence the of light.
what is the reaction / equation of split of water ?
2H2O → 2H2 + O2 + 2 e- w
what is being released during photolysis ?
Electrons are released to replace those cost in photosystem II
what is the process of light dependent reaction ? Stage 1 - 2
Light hits the photosystem II and it excites the electrons to a higher level
Electrons passes along the electron transport chain ( protein within the thylakoids membrane ) in a series of redox reaction.
what is the process of light dependent reaction ? Stage 3 - 4
Electron loses energy as they pass down the chain. This energy is used to pump H+ into thylakoids lumen from the stroma.
Due to the high concentration of H+ in the lumen , H+ diffuse back to the stroma via ATP synthase. This generates ATP.
what is oilrig means ?
oxidation is lose , reduction is gain
what does photophosphorylation means ?
When phosphate group is added to a molecule, Generation of ATP from ADP + inorganic phosphate in the presence of light.
what are the 2 types of photophosphorylation
Non cyclic and cyclic
which photosystem is for non cyclic ?
both photosystem I and II
which photosystem is for cyclic ?
only photosystem I
Cyclic photophosphorylation only colours in photosystem I what happen to the electrons ?
The excites electrons pass through electron carriers but some passed back to the chlorophyll hence cyclic.
As electrons pass between carriers, energy is lost + used to phosphorylate ADP + inorganic phosphate → ATP
what happens to the electron in the non cyclic ?
The coenzyme ( NADP ) acts as the final electron acceptor , becoming reduced to NADPH.
NADP → NADP + →( electron acceptor ) → NADPH
