Enterprise Authentication
A method that uses IEEE 802.1X and Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) to authenticate users against a network directory.
IEEE 802.1X
A network protocol that provides an authentication mechanism to devices wishing to connect to a LAN or WLAN.
Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP)
An authentication framework frequently used in wireless networks and point-to-point connections.
Supplicant
A wireless client device requesting to connect and authenticate to the network.
AAA Server
Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting server used to validate user credentials, such as RADIUS or TACACS+.
Master Key (MK)
A key transmitted from the AAA server to the supplicant after it has been authenticated, used to derive the Pairwise Master Key (PMK).
Pairwise Master Key (PMK)
A key derived from the Master Key, used by the wireless station and access point to generate session keys.
WPA2-Enterprise
A security method that provides enhanced security features for wireless networks, utilizing 802.1X for user authentication.
WPA3-Enterprise
The latest version of Wi-Fi Protected Access that enhances security protocols for enterprise networks.
EAPoW (EAP over Wireless)
Allows an access point to forward authentication data without granting any other type of network access.
