Said by Romeo. He compares Juliet to the sun, meaning she is bright, beautiful, and the center of his world.
“O that I were a glove upon that hand, that I might touch that cheek!”
Said by Romeo. He wishes he could be something Juliet touches so he could be close to her.
“If that thy bent of love be honorable, thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow.”
Said by Juliet. She tells Romeo that if he truly loves her, he should send word about when and where they will marry.
“Th’ exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine.”
Said by Juliet. She promises to exchange true vows of love with Romeo.
“For this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your households’ rancor to pure love.”
Said by Friar Laurence. He hopes Romeo and Juliet’s marriage will end the hatred between their families.
“These violent delights have violent ends.”
Said by Friar Laurence. He warns that very intense love can end in disaster.
“Love moderately; long love doth so.”
Said by Friar Laurence. He advises Romeo to love calmly and not rush too fast.
“What haste! Can you not stay awhile?”
Said by Juliet. She is excited and impatient to hear the Nurse’s news about Romeo.
“Lord, how my head aches! what a head have I!”
Said by the Nurse. She complains and teases Juliet by delaying the news about Romeo.
“Hie you to Friar Laurence’ cell.”
Said by the Nurse. She tells Juliet to go to Friar Laurence’s cell where Romeo is waiting to marry her.
What happens in Act 2 Scene 1
lovestruck Romeo escapes his friends after the Capulet party, climbing over the wall into the Capulet orchard to find Juliet. Benvolio and Mercutio search for him, with Mercutio mocking Romeo’s infatuation with Rosaline, unaware he has moved on. Romeo hides and refuses to answer their calls, prompting his friends to leave, assuming he wants to be alone.
What happens in Act 2 Scene 2
Romeo sneaks into the Capulet garden and overhears Juliet professing her love for him, lamenting that he is a Montague. He reveals himself, they exchange vows of love, and decide to marry, with Juliet sending a messenger to him the next day
What happens in Act 2 Scene 3
Romeo visits Friar Laurence early in the morning to ask him to marry him and Juliet that same day. Although shocked by Romeo’s sudden shift from Rosaline to Juliet, the Friar agrees to perform the ceremony, hoping the union will turn the families’ deadly feud into love..
What happens in Act 2 Scene 4
Benvolio and Mercutio discuss a duel challenge sent to Romeo by Tybalt, mocking Romeo's lovesickness for Rosaline. A cheerful Romeo joins them, trading witticisms. The Nurse arrives looking for Romeo, and he tells her to instruct Juliet to meet him at Friar Laurence’s cell for marriage that afternoon.
What happens in Act 2 Scene 5
an impatient Juliet anxiously awaits the Nurse's return, agonizing over the three-hour delay. Upon returning, the slow and aching Nurse comically delays delivering the message, highlighting the difference between youthful passion and old age. Finally, the Nurse tells Juliet to go to Friar Laurence’s cell to marry Romeo, and that she will fetch a rope ladder for their wedding night.

Romeo and Juliet meet at Friar Laurence's cell to be married.
