Origin of Serratus Anterior

Ribs 1-9 in between the rib angle and costal cartilage.

Insertion of Serratus Anterior

Anterior surface of the medial border of the scapula.

Actions of Serratus Anterior

Scapular protraction, depression, upward rotation, posterior tilt, and holds medial border of scapula against the thorax.

Nerve supply of Serratus Anterior

Long thoracic nerve C5, C6, C7.

Origin of Anterior Deltoid

Lateral 1/3 anterior border of the clavicle.

Origin of Middle Deltoid

Lateral aspect of acromion process.

Origin of Posterior Deltoid

Inferior lip of spine of the scapula.

Insertion of Deltoid

Deltoid tuberosity.

Actions of Anterior Deltoid

Shoulder abduction, flexion, internal rotation, horizontal adduction.

Actions of Middle Deltoid

Shoulder abduction.

Actions of Posterior Deltoid

Shoulder abduction, extension, external rotation, horizontal abduction.

Axillary nerve C5, C6.

Superior aspect of the tip of the coracoid process.

Radial tuberosity (via biceps tendon) and bicipital aponeurosis.

Shoulder flexion, elbow flexion, forearm supination.
