Glomerulus
It is found in the cortex and it filters water and small solutes out of the bloodstream.
Bowman's capsule
a part of the nephron that forms a cup-like sack surrounding the glomerulus.
Afferent arteriole
The wider artery that carries blood toward the glomerulus.
Efferent arteriole
The narrower artery that carries blood away from the glomerulus.
Proximal Convoluted Tubule
Is found in the medulla and reabsorbs the majority of the glomerular filtrate.
Loop of Henlé
U-shaped loop that's found in the medulla which absorbs water back into the body
Distal Convoluted Tubule
It is found in the medulla between the loop of Henlé and the collecting duct; Selective reabsorption occurs here and absorbs water.
Collecting duct
It is found in the medulla and it is a twisting tube that collects urine and moves it into the renal pelvis and ureters.
