Aseptic Garbing, Hand Washing, and Gloving

Step 1

Remove all jewelry and outside garments

Step 2

Get supplies - shoe covers, hair cover, mask, sterile robe, sterile gloves

Step 3

Put on hand sanitizer - coat palms, back of hands, and each finger and allow them to dry

Step 4

Put on shoe coves one at a time and fully cover shoe

Step 5

Reapply hand sanitizer

Step 6

Tie back all loose hair and put on hair cover fully covering head

Step 7

Reapply hand sanitizer

Step 8

Put on face mask over nose mouth and chin

Step 9

Prep for handing washing by:

1. Squeeze sponge in package to break up soap
2. Open packet and remove sponge
3. Use other hand to throw the wrapping away
4. Ask judge to turn on water
5. Wet hands and arms

Step 10

Washing hands:

1. Use the nail pick to clean under each nail - throw it away when done
2. Apply water to sponge
3. Use the brush side to wash under fingernails from thumb to pinkie
4. Do the same on both hands
5. Clean the top, sides, and bottom and webbing from thumb to pinkie.
6. Clean palm on both hands
7. Clean arms in circular patterns from wrist to elbow

Step 11

After scrubbing hands:

1. Throw away sponge
2. Rinse hand from Fingers to elbow with fingers pointed up
3. Ask judge to turn off water
4. Dry hands from finger to elbows

Step 12

Get sterile gown and insert one arm into sterile gown, pull up to shoulder, insert other arm and pull up to shoulder and tie at neck

Step 13

sanitize hands again

Step 14

Open gloves and place them on surface; Place left glove on left hand and pull it onto hand with the cuff. Repeat on right hand

Step 15

end:

1. Remove gloves
2. Throw gloves away
3. Untie gown and remove it by pulling shoulders and folding inside out
4. Remove face mask, hair mask, and shoe covers
5. Wash hands
