Atomic Model (Bohr Model)
A model representing an atom with a nucleus in the center and electrons orbiting in shells.
Nucleus
The central part of an atom containing protons (p⁺) and neutrons (n⁰).
Protons (p⁺)
Positively charged particles located in the nucleus of an atom; their number equals the atomic number.
Neutrons (n⁰)
Neutral particles located in the nucleus of an atom; their number is calculated as Mass number minus Atomic number.
Electrons (e⁻)
Negatively charged particles that orbit the nucleus in shells; their number equals the atomic number in a neutral atom.
Electron Shells
Concentric rings around the nucleus where electrons are placed.
Atomic Number
Represents the number of protons in an element, and also the number of electrons in a neutral atom.
