DNA
stores genetic information in the sequences of its nucleotides. Every cell in our body has genetic material in _ form.
Chromatin
a complex of DNA and proteins where interphase DNA is found. Also dispersed inside the intact cell nucleus during interphase.
Chromosome
highly condensed form of DNA.
Cell Cycle
This describes how cells grow, develop, and reproduce.
Interphase Gap 1
Growth of cytoplasm and doubling of organelles.
Interphase Gap 1
Produces proteins, enzymes, nutrients, and energy.
Interphase Gap 1
Highest rate of protein synthesis.
Interphase Gap 1
Movement of centrioles and centrosomes away.
Interphase S phase
DNA replication occurs, where an existing DNA produces another copy of itself.
Interphase Gap 2
Continued growth and production of materials. Also has protein synthesis but not similar to G1.
Cytokinesis
This is the division of the cell’s cytoplasm.
Cleavage furrow
formed in animal cells.
Cell plate
formed in plant cells.
G1 to S Checkpoint
Damage in the cell’s DNA.
Is the cell large enough with all energy reserved and double organelles.
G2 to M Checkpoint
Environmental conditions favorable for cell division to take place.
Properly replicated DNA.
Presence of DNA damage.
M Checkpoint
Proper attachment of spindle fibers.
