What is km?
Michealis constant which is equal to substrate concentration when Vo=1/2 Vmax
What is Vmax?
rate of reaction when all ativae sites are filled by substrate
Whats the active unit for LDH
the amount of enzymes that will reduce 1 micromole of pyruvate to lactate per min at standard conditions
What reaction are we carrying out?
The conversion of pyruvate to lactate using NADH as a cofactor and LDH as an enzyme
What kind of enzyme is lactase?
oxidoreductase
Why study this reaction and not the reverse in the lab?
because the reaction in this direction is spontaneous with a negative delta G, , the opposite is not spontaneous and has positive delta G.
What wavelength are we using and why?
340nm because NADH absorbs this wavelegth well, while NAD+ does nit. Using this wavelgth allows us to moniter the progress of the reaction.
Michaelis menten curve basic graph?
km=?
km=1/x intercept
vmax=
vmax=1/y intercept
