Maintained & filled with water to avoid sewer gases from escaping the lab

Should be placed away from any edges

Test Completion & Working Day's End

Schedule for laboratory working area cleaning

Kept free from visible contamination

Spills

Should be cleaned immediately to prevent slips, trips & falls

Doors & Drawers

Kept closed in the lab

Passaways

Should be free from obstructions in the lab

3 Fresh Cleaning Reagents

1% Sodium Hypochlorite Solution

Used for daily cleaning

10 mL

Amount of sodium hypochlorite solution added to 1000 mL of water for preparing 1% sodium hypochlorite solution

700 mL

Amount of absolute ethanol added to 300 mL of distilled water for preparing 1 Liter of 70% ethanol

450 mL

Amount of 12% Lysol added to 550 mL of distilled water to prepare 1 Liter of 5% Lysol

5% Phenolic Solution

Other name for Lysol

Poured & spread on the work surface w/ paper towel

Soap Solution & 5% Lysol Solution

Used to clean outer surfaces of cupboards, laboratory trolleys, sinks, & chairs (Weekly Cleaning)
