Covenant Morality

Fortitude

Temperance
The virtue that governs and regulates desires to maintain control over instincts.
Theological Virtues
Virtues that relate directly to God: Faith, Hope, and Love.
Faith
The virtue of assent to divine truths, allowing a commitment of oneself to God.
Hope
The virtue that aspires towards God as the ultimate good, providing perseverance in difficulties.
Love
The theological virtue by which one loves God above all things and neighbors as oneself.
Cardinal Virtues
The four principal virtues (Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, and Temperance) that govern moral behavior.
Blasphemy
Speaking disrespectfully about God or sacred things, which is prohibited by the second commandment.
Covetousness
A strong desire for what belongs to someone else; can lead to discontent and strife.
False witness
Dishonestly testifying against someone, violating the eighth commandment.
Sabbath Day
A day of rest and worship, emphasizing the importance of family and community worship.
Honor your father and mother
The commandment to reverently regard and support one’s parents, emphasizing family integrity.
Respect life
The principle underlying the fifth commandment, which emphasizes the sanctity of life and bodily integrity.
Integrity of married life
The concept embodied in the sixth commandment, advocating respect and fidelity within marriage.
