List the features of asexual reproduction
1 parent, each offspring is genetically identical
Cell Theory
All cells comes from pre-existing cells
The cell is the basic unit of life
All living things are made of cells
Binary Fission
Bacteria are microorganisms, single prokaryotic cells that reproduce by a parent cell producing 2 daughter cells
Each cycle of doubling takes 20-30 minutes.
Budding
Yeasts are unicellular, eukaryotic organisms (mostly in food) that produce by growing a bud that pinches off to be a separate, smaller cell that grows on its own
Spore Formation
Molds/mushrooms are eukaryotic cells that releases spores from the parent that develop into identical offspring, spores are airborne and germinate (grow) if in ideal conditions
Vegetative Propagation
A form of asexual reproduction in plants where new individual organisms grow from parts of the parent plant, such as stems, roots, or leaves, producing genetically identical offspring.
