Why does the govt exist?

1. Bible identifies it as an institution established by God

2. Govt has the power of the sword

3. Foster human flourishing

1. Marriage and family

2. Church

what is the power of the sword?

to reward good behavior and punish bad behavior (administer justice and maintain order)

what does a balanced attitude towards the govt include?

thankfulness and wariness

why should we have wariness toward the govt

govt attracts pride and can amplify evil

is there still a need for govt apart from sin?

Even if there is no sin there is still a need for rules. (traffic signs, policies for times, social organization)
