Body composition
Refers to the combination of fat and tissues in the body.
Essential body fat
Helps shield internal organs, store fuel for energy, and control important body hormones.
Storage body fat
Also known as lean tissue.
Body Fat Percentage (BFP)
An indicator that reflects how much bodyweight is fat.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
A value derived from the mass and height of a person.
Skinfold measurement
Assesses body fat by measuring the thickness of skinfolds in specific areas.
One-repetition maximum test (1RM)
The standard test used to measure muscular strength.
Muscular endurance
The ability to contract muscles repeatedly or maintain muscle contraction over an extended period.
Flexibility
The range of motion of the joints without stiffness or discomfort.
Static stretching
Considered the safest type of stretching.
Speed training
Consists of workouts designed to improve explosive power in the lower body.
Acceleration
The capacity to increase maximum velocity in a short period of time.
Balance training
Improves posture, locomotor performance, and dynamic trunk control.
Key purpose of balance training
Flexibility is the range of motion of the joints without stiffness or discomfort.
