Is é an choimhlint idir lánúineacha pósta téama an dáin seo. Ní raibh siad oiriúnach dá chéile. Ní raibh siad in ann na deacrachtai a bhí acu a sharú, agus leis sin, scar siad óna chéile. Bhí an bhearna eatarthu dolíonta.
Conflict between married couples is the theme of the poem. They were not suitable for each other. They were unable to overcome their difficulties, and with that, they separated. The gap between them was unbridgeable.
Is dócha go raibh an bheirt i ngrá uair amháin ach is léir anois go bhfuil easpa grá sa chaidreamh. Ba mhaith leis an mbeirt acu a bheith pósta ach bhí tuairimi difriúla acu maidir leis an saol pósta. Is léir go raibh siad mishona sa phósadh.
it was hopeful that the pair were in love one time but now it is clear that there is a lack of love in the relationship. the pair would like to be married but they had different opinions regarding married life. It is clear that they were unhappy in the marriage.
Is dócha go raibh díomá orthu beirt nuair a thuig siad nach raibh siad oiriúnach dá chéile agus go raibh deireadh leis an bpósadh.
They were probably disappointed to understand that they weren’t suitable together and that the marriage was ended.
Nuair a dhéanann an file cur síos ar mhianta an fhir, baineann sé úsáid as meafair ata tiriúl, teolai agus seimh. Tá aire agus gra clainne le mothú sa mheafar 'nead a chine', mar is áit shábháilte theolaí í an nead. Mar sin léiríonn an meafar seo gur mhaith leis an bhfear a bheith ina chónaí ina bhaile dúchais féin. Léiríonn an focal 'cine' go bhfuil traidisiún agus leanúnachas tábhachtach don fhear.
When the poet describes the man’s desires. The use of metaphor is associated as homely, cosy and warm. Care and family love can be felt in the metaphor ‘nead a chine’, because the nest is a safe and cosy place. This metaphor shows that the man wants to live in his own local town. The word ‘cine’ shows that tradition and continuity are important to the man
Seasann 'ar leac a thine' do chroílár an tí. Cuireann an meafar seo teas, grá agus compord in iúl dúinn. Cruthaionn an file íomhá den chlann ar fad istigh i dteach teolaí, agus iad ar fad sona sásta
‘Ar leac a thine’ stand for the heart of the house. This metaphor puts warmth, love and comfort in front of us. The poet creates an image of the whole family inside a cosy home, all happy.
Ach níl na meafair a bhaineann leis an mbean chomh tíriúil teolaí sin. Ba mhaith léi cothromaiocht agus udarás sa phósadh agus tá sé seo le feiceáil sa mheafar taobh den bhriste'.
But the metaphor associated with the women are not warm and cosy. She would like equality and authority in the marraige and this is seen in the metaphor ‘taobh den bríste’
Seasann an meafar leath den chíste' don chothromaiocht agus don neamhspleáchas atá uaithi freisin.
The metaphor ‘leath den chiste’ stands for equality and independence about her aswell.
Measaim go bhfuil na meafair seo píosa beag crua agus fuair. Léiríonn an file mianta na mná ar bhealach diúltach. Tá caineadh i gceist leo, dar liom. Is léir go bhfuil saibhreas agus ábharachas tábhachtach don bhean. Cuireann Mac Suibhne saint agus leithleas in iúl dúinn maidir le mianta na mná. Ní léir go raibh aon spéis ag an mbean i gcúrsai clainne; cuireann sí an bhéim ar fad uirthi féin.
I think that these metaphors are small bit hard and cold. The poet shows the desires of the woman in negative ways. Criticism is in question with her. According to me. It is clear that wealth and materialism are important to the women. Mac Suibhne puts greed and selfishness in front of us regarding the desires of the women. It is not clear that the woman has any interest in family matters; she puts emphasis on everything about herself
Cruthaíonn an file íomhá de dhuine agus de phósadh traidisiúnta, agus ansin de dhuine de phósadh nua-aimseartha. Tá an chodarsnacht gunta, ghéar agus le feiceáil go soiléir leis an simplíocht seo. Tá an ghontacht sa dá líne dheireanacha an-éifeachtach freisin. 'Thángthas ar réiteach./Scaradar'. Is léir ón méid seo nach raibh an bheirt in ann teacht ar chomhreiteach.
The poet creates images of an person in a traditional marriage and then of a person of a modern marriage. The contrast is blunt and sharp and seen clearly and simply. The bluntness of the last two lines very effective. ‘Thángthas ar réitheach./Scaradar’. It is clear from this piece that the pair are not able to compromise.
