Define isotopes
Atoms with the same number of electrons and protons but different number of neutrons.
Why do isotopes of the same have the same chemical properties?
Because chemical properties are defined by the number of eletrons in the energy shells( same electronic configuration) not the the number of neutrons in the nucleus.
The formula for calculation relative atomic mass
AR=( isotope 1 mass * isotope 1 abundance)+ ( isotope 2 mass * isotope 2 abundance) / 100
Define realtive atomic mass
The average mass of isotopes of the same element compared to 1/12^th of the mass of a C^12
