Percent Yield
The amount of product actually obtained from a reaction compared to the theoretical amount expected.
Stoichiometry
The calculation of reactants and products in chemical reactions based on the balanced equations.
Balanced Equation
An equation where the number of each type of atom on the reactants side equals the number on the products side.
Limiting Reagent
The reactant that is completely consumed in a reaction, limiting the amount of product formed.
Theoretical Yield
The maximum amount of product that could be formed from given quantities of reactants.
Mole Ratio
A ratio derived from the coefficients of a balanced chemical equation, used to convert between moles of reactants and products.
Combustion Reaction
A chemical reaction that occurs when a substance combines with oxygen, producing energy, carbon dioxide, and water.
Diatomic Elements
Elements that naturally exist as molecules consisting of two atoms, such as H2, O2, N2.
Exothermic Reaction
A chemical reaction that releases energy in the form of heat.
Coefficient
A numerical value placed in front of a compound in a balanced equation that indicates the number of molecules or moles.
