Glisson’s Capsule
The entire liver is encased by this
Intraperitoneal
Enclosed in the sac formed by the parietal peritoneum
left functional lobe
Segment of the liver to the left of the plane through the gallbladder fossa and IVC
Left Lobe
Lobe of the liver that is bounded in front by the rib cage and abdominal wall and posteriorly it rests on the stomach
Quadrate Lobe
Lobe of the liver that is distinguished sonographically and physiologically as the medial portion of the left lobe
Right functional lobe
Segment of the liver to the right of the plane through the gallbladder fossa and IVC
Right Lobe
Lobe of the liver that is bounded in front by the rib cage and abdominal wall and posteriorly it rests on the gallbladder, head of the pancreas, right adrenal gland, and right kidney
Common heoatic artery
Runs directly toward the right side of the body and it divides into the gastroduodenal artery and the proper hepatic artery
Hepatic ducts
these transport bile
Hepatic veins
These drain the blood from the liver and empty it into the IVC
Left hepatic artery
Supplies blood to the left segmental lobe of liver
Middle hepatic artery
This arises from the left hepatic artery
Porta hepatis
This area is posterior to the hepatic artery and common bile duct

This area is comprised of the portal vein at the level of the porta hepatis, proper hepatic artery, and common duct
portal vein

This supplies the greatest percentage of total blood flow to the liver and is formed by the confluence of three tributaries
