A group or layer of similarly specialized cells that join together to perform specific functions
Four main types of tissues
Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, and Nerve.
Epithelial Tissues
Any tissues that form a surface.
Connective Tissues
Connect any type of tissues together.
Muscle Tissues
The tissues forming the muscles
Nerve Tissues
The brain spinal cord and the nerves throughout the body
Organ
Somewhat independent part of the body that performs a specific function.
Body System
Multiple organs work together to combine their specific functions together
Skeletal System
- bones, support & protection.
Muscular System
- muscles, movement & heat.
Cardiovascular System
- heart, blood vessels (transport).
Lymphatic System
- defense against disease.
Immune System
- also defense against disease.
Respiratory System
- lungs (gas exchange).
Digestive System
- breaks down food.
Urinary System
- eliminates waste, regulates fluid balance.
Nervous System
- brain, spinal cord, nerves (fast control).
Integumentary System
- skin, protects body.
Endocrine System
- hormones (slow control).
Reproductive Systems
- produces offspring.
Special Senses
- Eyes, Ears, Nose, and Tongue
