Made up of 450 deputies, elected through a partially proportional, partially single member district. Have the power to pass bills, approve budgets, confirm political appointments of the president, and vote of no confidence (lower house)
Federation Council
Made up of 170 deputies consisting of 2 members from each of the 85 federal administrative units. One of the two members appointed by regional legislature, other by regional governor. Has the power to delay legislation, approve troop deployments, and ratify treaties
United Russia
Putin’s conservative party that was founded in 2001 in order to create a stable environment that benefits very few by working with the oligarchies
Communist Party
Old communist party that was founded in 1993 which resisted reforms under Gorbachev and supports centralized planning & gaining back territories lost when Soviet Union was dissolved
Liberal Democrats
Extremely nationalistic party that was created by the KGB and is neither liberal or democratic
A Just Russia
Conglomeration of many parties formed in 2006 who guarantee individual rights and a working welfare state
