Intro

According to the Oxford Dictionary, success is the achievement of a goal. And I think

that, no matter what that goal is, that one word should be something for us all to strive for.

Does it really matter if your idea of success is having a family, or simply just getting out of

bed? It is important to you; therefore, it should be your priority to achieve it.

P1

So, how do we achieve it? You must be thinking that you have to prioritise this and only

this; that everything else is suddenly irrelevant. But, would you believe me if I told you that’s

the absolute worst plan you can have? Burnout is a real thing, and its worsened severely if

you neglect your personal life: we are social creatures, after all! Instead of aiming higher and

higher, have a few intentions and set an ideal, which is also ideal. Small yet consistent steps

are the key, and we all know a lack of time management doesn’t ever get you anywhere.

P2

But what if you already work so hard, and still none of your goals are coming to fruition?

Well, perhaps your issue is your mindset. Sometimes, we believe that in order to achieve

something, we have to work 10x harder than anyone else to do so. Isn’t that weird? We’re all

the same species, yet you seem to think you’re the only one who is naturally incapable; it’s

just plainly wrong. So, instead, you’re going to tell yourself that you don’t need to overwork

yourself to achieve your goals, but rather aim to outsmart yourself.

P3

So, in a practical sense, how exactly does this look? First of all, you need to understand

that consistency does not mean giving 100% each time; it means starting small, yet

persisting day by day. As Jim Kwik said,

‘On the days you only have 40%, and you give

40%, you give 100%.

’ You also need to do it wisely; don’t just leave all the productive stuff to

last minute! Instead, set out a time, preferably early in the morning or afternoon, to make

even 5 minutes of progress. Realistically, most of you will have to take small steps due to a

modern lifestyle. Furthermore, make it your ambition to improve your mindset. Perhaps start

by setting small goals, which the accomplishment of will strengthen your confidence bit by

bit, slowly ensuring your success?

Once I had done my speech, the next step was to organise my materials. (P1)

  • Mind-mapped several ideas, allowing themes to emerge

  • Ordered the ideas to a logical structure which would flow effectively in a way that fits my audience’s needs.

  • Removed material which was either too complex for this speech or did not align with the end goal.

10
New cards

Once I had done my speech, the next step was to organise my materials. (P2)

  • For the main body, I focused on keeping it at 3 paragraphs.

  • For the conclusion, i focused on the audience taking advice and scanning the QR code.
