Qua vociferatione in ceteris iudiciis accusatores uti consuerunt

The loud outcry which prosecutors in other trials are accustomed to use

Ea nos hoc tempore utimur qui causam dicimus

We who plead the case are using at this time

Petimus abs te, M. Fanni, a vobisque, iudices

We ask from you, Marcus Fannius, and from you, judges

Ut quam acerrime maleficia vindicetis

That you punish wicked deeds as strictly as possible

Ut quam fortissime hominibus audacissimis resistatis

That you resist the most daring men as bravely as possible

Ut hoc cogitetis

That you consider this

Nisi in hac causa, qui vester animus sit, ostendetis

That unless you show in this case what your attitude is

Eo prorumpere hominum cupiditatem et scelus et audaciam

Men’s greed, crime and boldness will burst forth to such an extent

Ut non modo clam

That not only secretly

verum etiam hic in foro ante tribunal tuum, M. Fanni
