24
bones in the skull
frontal, parietal, occipital, temporal, sphenoid, ethmoid, maxilla, palatine, zygomatic, lacrimal, nasal, vomer, inferior nasal conchae, mandible
frontal bone (and what classification of bone it is)
flat bone
parietal bone (and what classification of bone it is)
flat bone
occipital bone (and what classification of bone it is)
flat bone
sphenoid bone (and what classification of bone it is)
irregular bone
ethmoid bone in the context of the skull (and what classification of bone it is)
the white bone inside this eye in the picture
you can also see the white perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone in the picture (as well as the vomer)
irregular bone
maxilla bone (and what classification of bone it is)
irregular bone
palatine bone (and what classification of bone it is)
also visible in the corner of the eye, right under the ethmoid bone!
irregular bone
zygomatic bone (and what classification of bone it is)
irregular bone
lacrimal bone (and what classification of bone it is)
the red bone I am pointing to
irregular bone
nasal bone (and what classification of bone it is)
flat bone
vomer bone
inferior nasal conchae (and what classification of bone it is)
irregular bone
mandible (and what classification of bone it is)
irregular bone
what is a suture?
immovable joint
official bones that make up the nasal septum
ethmoid (starts from eye but goes around and is visible above the mandible), and vomer
bones of cranium: list
frontal, temporal, occipital, parietal, sphenoid, ethnoid
facial bones: list
maxilla, nasal, zygomatic, lacrimal, palatine, vomer, mandible and inferior nasal conchae
supraorbital foramen (and what it is part of)
part of frontal bone
sagittal suture (and what it is part of)
part of parietal bone
coronal suture (and what it is part of)
between frontal bone and coronal bone
lambdoidal suture (and what it is part of)
between both parietal bones and occipital bone
foramen magnum (and what it is part of)
in the occipital lobe
where the spinal cord exits the skull
squamosal suture (and what it is part of)
separates parietal and temporal bone
external auditory meatus (and what it is part of)
part of temporal lobe
zygomatic process (and what it is part of)
the zygomatic bone is really only the front part of your cheek; the zygomatic arch describes where the temporal and zygomatic bone meet in that arch. The zygomatic process is considered part of the temporal bone.
mastoid process (and what it is part of)
behind the styloid process, the temporal bone that goes down
styloid process (and what it is part of)
part of temporal lobe
vomer bone posterior view
sella turcica (and what it is part of)
part of the sphenoid bone
crista galli (and what it is part of)
this is the posterior view
part of the ethmoid bone
perpendicular plate (and what it is part of)
this is the posterior view
part of the ethmoid bone
describe the nose hole
the ethmoid wraps around the eye; the part you see in the nose is the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid. The continuation to the bottom is vomer bone. The bottom two things that jut out are the inferior nasal conchae. The top two things that jut out are the middle nasal conchae, which are also part of the ethmoid bone. The nasal bone isn’t even in the hole, it is the bone on top of the hole. You can’t really see the superior nasal concha, but it is also part of the ethmoid bone.
superior and middle nasal conchae (and what it is part of)
part of the ethmoid bone
this is the posterior bone
ethmoid bone by itself (and what classification of bone it is)
irregular bone
hard palate
entire roof of mouth
infraorbital foramen (and what it is part of)
part of the maxilla
temporal process (and what it is part of)
part of the zygomatic bone
coronoid process (and what it is part of)
part of the mandible
mandibular condyle (and what it is part of)
part of the mandible
behind the coronoid process
mandibular foramen (and what it is part of)
part of the mandible
mental foramen
bones that make up the eye orbit
frontal, sphenoid, palatine, zygomatic, maxilla, lacrimal, ethnoid
optic foramen (and what it is part of)
part of sphenoid bone
sphenoid and ethmoid bone in the context of the skull
purple is the ethmoid and the yellow is the sphenoid
ethmoid is visible in the eye, nose, and anterior of skull
the perpendicular plate in the superior view of the ethmoid bone
the crista galli in the superior view of the ethmoid bone
