Epicranius
A muscle covering the skull that has two parts: the frontalis and the occipitalis.
Frontalis
The muscle that raises the eyebrows and wrinkles the forehead.
Occipitalis
The muscle located at the back of the head that pulls the scalp backward.
Masseter
A powerful muscle involved in chewing, located at the jaw.
Orbicularis oris
A circular muscle around the mouth that controls movements of the lips.
Zygomaticus major
A muscle that pulls the corners of the mouth upwards, involved in smiling.
Sternocleidomastoid
A muscle in the neck that allows for rotation and flexion of the head.
Pectoralis major
A large chest muscle that adducts and medially rotates the arm.
Latissimus dorsi
The largest muscle of the upper body, responsible for extension, adduction, and medial rotation of the shoulder.
Deltoid
The shoulder muscle that is responsible for lifting the arm and giving the shoulder its range of motion.
Gluteus maximus
The largest muscle in the buttock, responsible for the movement of the hip and thigh.
Biceps brachii
A muscle on the front of the upper arm that flexes the elbow and supinates the forearm.
Rectus femoris
The muscle located in the middle of the front thigh, part of the quadriceps group.
Gastrocnemius
A major calf muscle that flexes the knee and plantar flexes the foot.
Tibialis anterior
A muscle located in the front of the lower leg that dorsiflexes the foot.
Soleus
A muscle of the calf that helps in plantar flexing the foot.
