When analyzing the energy of a system, what must be accounted for?
The energy of each part of the system must be accounted for, as separate pieces
In a system, what is true of the systems velocity?
The velocity is the same throughout, and it can be factored out.
What is the equation for acceleration on an inclined, frictionless surface?
a = g * sin(theta)
What is the equation for static friction on an incline?
Ms * g * tan(theta)
What is the equation for acceleration down a rough incline?
a = g * sin(theta) - Mic * g * cos(theta)
State Newton's Three Laws of Motion.
1) Law of Inertia, 2) EF = ma, 3) Action-reaction pairs.
What is the range equation for a projectile that starts and ends at the same height?
Range = (v^2 * sin(2 * theta)) / g
Conservative work is…?
Path independent
What is the equation for Power at a constant velocity?
P = F * v * cos(theta)
What does Wnet = Ak refer to?
The work-energy theorem.
What usually is non-conservative work?
Friction and air resistance.
What is conservation of momentum?
M1v1 = M2v2
When VF = Vo, what is the state of the object?
Object is fully submerged.
Give examples of common MOI's.
Point mass: MR^2, solid disk: 1/2 MR^2, hollow disk: MR^2, rod about the center: 1/12 ML^2, rod about the end: 1/3 ML^2.
Total Kinetic Energy
KT + KR (Translational + Rotational)
What theorem describes water flowing from a small hole in a large container?
Torricelli's Theorem
Impulse is the change in what?
Momentum
