Kinetic Particle Theory
A theory that explains the behavior of matter in terms of the motion of particles.
Melting Point
The temperature at which a solid substance transitions into a liquid.
Boiling Point
The temperature at which a liquid turns into a gas.
Freezing Point
The temperature at which a liquid turns into a solid.
Heating Curve
A graph that shows the temperature changes of a substance as it is heated over time.
Evaporation
The process by which particles with enough energy escape from the surface of a liquid to form a gas.
Condensation
The process by which gas particles lose energy and transition to a liquid state.
Diffusion
The process by which particles spread from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
Pressure
The force exerted by gas particles colliding with the walls of their container.
Volume
The amount of space that a gas occupies.
Gas Expansion
The increase in volume of a gas when its temperature rises.
Solidification
The process by which a liquid becomes a solid.
