• Clade contains the modern plants

• Contains phycoerythrin

• Most multicellular and marine

Chlorophytes

• Also contain chlorophyll b

• Mostly freshwater, but diverse

• Some unicellular, others more complex

Charophytes

• Mostly freshwater

• Very resistant to dehydration

• Many similarities to land plants
