Parallel Lines
lines in the same plane that never intersect and are always the same distance apart

Perpendicular Lines
Lines in the same plane that never intersect and are always the same distance apart

Transversal
a line that intersects two or more lines in the same plane at different points

Complementary Angles
two angles whose measures have a sum of 90 degrees

Supplementary Angles
Two angles whose measures have a sum of 180

Congruent Angles
Angles that have the same measure

Vertical Angles
pairs of congruent angles formed by two intersecting lines

Alternate Exterior Angles
the pair of angles that are formed on the outer side of the parallel lines but on the opposite side of the transversal

Alternate Interior Angles
Formed when a transversal passes through two lines

Corresponding Angles
the angles which occupy the same relative position at each intersection where a straight line crosses two others. Corresponding angles are equal

Rule for interior angles on the same side of a transversal
They are supplementary
Rule for pair of exterior angles on the same Sid e of the transversal
They are supplementary
Midpoint
the middle equidistant from both ends

Perpendicular Bisector
A line, ray, or segment that is perpendicular to a segment and divides it into two equal parts

Bisector of an angle
a ray that divides an angle into two congruent angles
