Storage Systems
Technologies and methods used to store, manage, and retrieve digital data.
Hard Disk Drives (HDDs)
Mechanical storage devices that use spinning disks to store data.
Solid-State Drives (SSDs)
Storage devices that use flash memory to store data, faster than HDD.
Cloud Storage
Use of remote servers accessed via the internet to store, manage, and retrieve data.
Tape Storage
Use of magnetic tape for storage, usually for backup purposes.
Optical Storage
Use of CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray disks for storage.
Memory Storage
Storage devices used for temporary storage of data, such as RAM.
Distributed Storage Systems
Data stored across multiple devices or locations, allowing easy expansion and improved performance.
Clustered Storage Systems
Interconnected storage systems in the same location, allowing load balancing and easy scalability.
Network Storage Systems
Storage systems connected to networks that allow multiple users and devices to access and store data.
Network-Attached Storage (NAS)
Storage designed for file level access that connects to a network.
Storage Area Network (SAN)
Designed for block level access, often used in enterprise environments.
Direct Attached Storage (DAS)
Storage that connects directly to a single server or host, used as backup options.
Object Storage
Storage designed to store unstructured data, using a flat namespace with a unique identifier.
Cloud Based Storage
Storage hosted and managed by a third party provider, scalable and accessible from anywhere.
Hybrid Storage
Combination of different storage systems.
Big Data
Extremely large and complex sets of data defined by volume, velocity, variety, variability, and veracity.
Ephemeral Storage
Type of storage that is not permanently saved; data is lost when the computer is shut down.
Persistent Storage
Storage that is permanently saved and not lost when the computer is shut down.
Block Storage
Cloud storage that stores data in fixed size blocks, providing low latency.
File Storage
Cloud storage for storing and accessing files over the internet, allowing file sharing.
Backup Storage
Cloud storage designed for data backup and recovery, keeping copies of data in a remote location.
Archive Storage
Cloud storage for long term retention of data, usually with lower cost but higher retrieval times.
Content Delivery Network (CDN)
Distributed system of servers that improve speed and reliability by caching data closer to users.
Media Cloud Storage
Cloud storage designed for managing large amounts of media files.
Big Data Analytics Storage
Cloud storage designed for analyzing large amounts of structured and unstructured data in real time.
Cloud Database
Cloud storage used to store and access data over the internet, scalable and managed by a cloud service provider.
Hybrid Cloud Storage
Combination of public and private cloud storage, allowing movement of data as needed.
