How do selective weed killers work against weeds
High concentrations of auxin can distort plants with too much growth and allow pathogens to enter
How can we make sure crops such as wheat will not be affected by selective weed killer
The crops need to be able to tolerate a high concentration of auxin, they will not be sensitive to it
Smaller leaves absorb less auxin. Spraying auxin onto a field will kill the larger leaf weed species.
How do rooting powders work with growing new cuttings into plants
This is auxin at a low dose
Used prior to planting
Stimulates cell elongation
Which hormone is used in fruit ripening
Ethene
Why is it good to have controlled fruit ripening in industry
It is easier to transport the fruit avoiding damage
Then exposing the fruit to ethene will promote ripening to then be sold
