Refers to letters that are sent within Canada
Letter post
Refers to letters that are sent to the US and internationally. This service differs from Letter mail
Main Difference between Letter mail and Letter post
Letter Post has different options for registration than letter mail, and has a longing shipping time.
Registered Letter Mail
Paying for registered mail that is shipped within Canada, gives customer proof of delivery through
the signature of recipient
a mailing receipt which has the date of when the mail was signed as received
Registered Letter Post
1) Confirms that the item was received for delivery, and customer receives an official registration receipt.
2) To receive more information on the package you can pay for AR (Advice Receipt)
3) To insure item incase of damage or loss you can add coverage
4) With this option there will be no signature

Advice receipts cards show proof of delivery. this option is only available if its added on to registered letter post
Letter Post shipping times
Shipping letters to US will usually take 4-6
Shipping letters Internationally will take 4-7 depending on destination

Has to meet all criteria of…
Weight: Is 30g or under
Size: Fits within red box
Thickness: Fits within 5mm slot
Oversized Letter
Weight is between 51-100g
Size: Fits into black box not red
Thickness: Fits into black slot not red
Oversized stamps
Cost: $2.09
Are only used on oversized letters that are shipped within Canada.
Shipping an oversized letter (50-100g) outside to US or international requires printing a shipping label
Canada Stamps
Cost: $1.15
Stamp for those shipping a standard size letter within Canada.
US Stamps
Cost: $1.40
For standard letters shipping to the US
For Letters between 30-50g shipping that are US or within Canada
International Stamps
Cost: 2.40
For standard size letters only shipping internationally

If someone wants express shipping on a letter
Go to ship it and send as an oversized letter, have customer pick from express options
If someone wants tracking on a letter
You cannot put a tracking on a letter t o do that you would have to send it as a parcel which is more expensive
But if you want to ensure arrival of the letter you can pay for registered mail, and if us/international registered and maybe AR
How long does it take to Letter mail within Canada
Depends on where but typically 2-4 days and 6-8 days in the northern region
Checking for proof of paid postage
when a customer is dropping off a letter check that the type of stamp is correct, otherwise it will not send. (or has indica etc)
If using old postage (smaller in $) Then have customer by new stamp and add the price of the already fixed postage to cover what they already have paid
Flate Rate boxes
a more affordable option for those shipping a parcel within Canada.
Customer pays for the box and the shipping cost together vs separately.
these boxes come with tracking, delivery confirmation, guarantee of on time delivery, and has coverage of up to $100.
However customer cannot add more coverage or get signature option

Xpresspost
CP service that sends parcels to US and internationally
1) It guarantees delivery
2) has online tracking
3) coverage up to $100
4) clears customs easier
5) signature is free when applicable
