Sculptures
Three-dimensional artworks that are usually made from one material.
Free standing sculptures/In the round
They are sculptures that are raised independently in their given space. It can often be observed from all points of view (broadest aspect technique).
Reliefs
They are sculptures that are raised from a background.
Bas reliefs/low reliefs
They are reliefs that are slightly protruding from their background.
High reliefs
They are reliefs that are prominently raised against their background, giving the sculpture more dimensionality.

Wood carving
It is found throughout the different regions and communities of the country. It is used to create and decorate the items used in one's daily life, such as furniture, utensils etc. It has existed throughout the history for the Philippines.
Santos
The most notable sculptural pieces during the Spanish colonization. They are sculptural representations of Christ and Christian saints.
Black Nazarene
It is a venerated, life-sized dark statue of Jesus Christ carrying the True Cross.
Academic/Classical style
A kind of contemporary sculpture style that follows the aesthetics of the ancient Greeks and Romans as taught by European art academics.
Modern style
A kind of contemporary sculpture style that is often abstract and not as particular about the realistic portrayal or representation of figures.

Napoleon Abueva
Student of Guillermo Tolentino. Known as the "Father of Modern Sculpture". His sculptures often gave a feel of playfulness, fluidity, and movement. He worked with various materials but prefers molave and narra wood.
Allegorical Harpoon
It is considered one of Napoleon Abueva's best abstract sculptural works.
Pottery
It is the art and craft of making pots and other wares using clay or mud. It is a tradition surviving many centuries.
Studio pottery
It is a handmade, one-of-a-kind ceramic that is sought after by collectors. It comes in many forms such as functional items (ex. cookware, tableware).
Sculptural pieces
Many present day ceramics venture into this in studio pottery.
Carving
It is the art of manipulating and creating objects by subtracting and shaping solid materials.
Bulul
The Ifugao rice god. It is represented through carved wood and is used as a decorative element throughout their daily wares. They use it for praying or thanking for a good harvest.
Okir
Geometric patterns and stylized images of plants and animals, Muslims of Western Mindanao carved (wave designs).
Weaving
It is the art of interlacing threads or fibers to create textile, fabric, or similar products. Often made from indigenous plants.
Ikat
It is a dyeing process that involves resist-dyeing and dying to achieve a desired pattern, after which the fibers are then woven. Mindanao's tribal groups design their ikats with stylized animal figures.
Metalwork
It is the art of creating and manipulating metal to create various items such as jewelry, weapons, etc. Usually made out of gold and brass. Filipinos were skilled in making this art form.
Gador
Decorated brass urns made using the lost-wax process. One of the most popular products from the Maranaos, who are the largest manufacturers of brassware.
Collage
It is the method of combining printed images with other flat media and pasting them on a canvas or board.
Picasso and Braque
The collage method first came about through these cubists' experimentation.
Assemblage
Term used by Jean Dubuffet to describe a series of artworks made from paper collages, wood scraps, and other found objects. They often blur the distinction between painting and sculpture.
Mobile
It is a sculptural work that is suspended from the ceiling or a protruding base. Typically made with a number of balancing rods dangling at different lengths carrying one or more elements.

An American artist who pioneered mobile artworks.
Performance art
It is a mix of visual arts and performing arts. It should be done in front of a live audience.

Installation art
It is a form of contemporary art that involves the arrangement of objects in a given space. It gives meaning to space and is associated with the conceptual art and Dada movement. It incorporated different materials and technology-based media. They consider how to immerse their viewers and their reactions.

Installation art is intentionally designed to be this work of art.
