Surface
The colour of a surface can change temperature by a few degrees.
Ex. Dark colors absorb and radiate heat
Ex. Light colors reflect and radiate less heat
Physical Features
Tall features & bodies of water cool the temperature
Ex. Trees providing shade and shelter
Hills are usually cool and windy
Areas by water are cooler and windier.
Aspect
The direction something is facing
Ex. It’s cooler when you’re facing north and warmer when you’re facing south in the Northern hemisphere.
Shelter
Shelter provides protection against wind and provides shade, making it warmer.
Buildings
They’re normally insulated and give off heat, leading to a few extra degree on the exterior.
