Humanistic/Positive Psychology
Focuses on positives, bringing up self-esteem and self-actualization to be the best you can be. Associated with Maslow and Rogers.
Self-actualization
The process of becoming the best version of yourself.
Socio-cultural Perspective
Examines how people and societal environments affect and influence us.
Behavioral Perspective
Focuses on observable behavior and how it is shaped through punishment, reinforcement, and modeling/copying. Associated with Pavlov, Skinner, and Watson.
Cognitive Perspective
Deals with the way we think, including overthinking, irrational thoughts, and cognitive development. Associated with Piaget, and how we interpret things.
Biological Perspective
Examines chemical balances, hormones, neurotransmitters, genetics/DNA in the brain and body. Addresses how mental health issues can originate from mind or body.
Psychoanalytic Perspective
Focuses on the unconscious mind, past experiences, hypnosis, and dream analysis. Explores hidden thoughts. Associated with Freud and Jung.
