Mixture where substances are blended completely and mixture looks the same everywhere, usually transparent, example tea

Heterogeneous Mixture

Mixtures that look speckled like Raisin Bran or Fruit Loops

Colloids

Mixtures that have properties between solutions and heterogeneous mixtures, example toothpaste

Solute

One of two substances mixed together, the smaller amount, example salt in seawater

Solvent

One of two substances mixed together, the greater amount, example water in seawater

Solubility

The ability of a solute to dissolve in a solvent

Suspension

A mixture when one substance is insoluble or does not dissolve in a solvent

A liquid spread through another liquid, example milk

Has either liquid drops or solid particles spread through a gas, example fog

Gel

A solid spread through a liquid, example Jell-O

Foam

A gas spread though a liquid or solid

Liquid foam - whipped cream

Solid foam - marshmallow
