• Hierarchy of scale, figure in profile, registers= similarities to Mesopotemia art
• King Narmer is shown beating his enemies, showing his power that united both lower & upper Egypt

Imhotep, Stepped Pyramid of Djoser

• Imhotep= the 1st recorded artist/architect
• Built the 1st pyramids by staking Mastabas (tomb)

Great Pyramids

• tombs build for 3 pharaohs (3 pyramids)
• Took the shape of the ben-ben, the emblem
  of the sun, Re.
• Originally had limestone outer layer but taken by grave robbers

Khafre Enthroned

• Made of diorite
• Falcon god (Horus) on the Pharaohs shoulder
• Stiff posture, muscular body= shows the divine (status, perfection) nature of the pharaoh

Menkaure and his wife

• shows the same stiff upright posture only standing up

Seated Scribe

• Scribe= dude that records in writting
• Average looking joe, no muscular body (realistic) = shows he is just normal and not define like the pharaohs
• Papyrus= paper of the egyptians

Hatshepsut with offering jars

• Hatshepsut = female pharaoh
• Shown as a man for her male taken role (but can also be portrayed as a woman)

Temple of Ramsies II

• King Ramsie is shown sitting, 4 of them (big boys), infront of the Abu Simbel temple
• Inside, there is more Ramsies, standing tall
• The temple was moved in the 60's so it doesn't get destroyed by rising water levels

Akhenaton

• Made the Egyptian religion from poly to monotheistic (worship to the Sun God, Adon)
• body type isn't the typical buffness instead it shows a tummy and skinny ish arms (possibly because of the change of religion)

Thutmose, Nefertiti

• Found in the Sculptist, Thutmose workshop
• Model has a missing eye= shows kinda a before and after of the finished side

Death Mask of Tut

• Made of gold with semiprecious stones
• Most of Tut's tomb was left intact, showing the Egyptian power, pride, and affluence

Book of the Dead

• Hu- Nefer's Last judgement
• Scroll made of papyruss
• Served as a guide for the afterlife (shows peeps like Anubis, afterlife gods)
• A scale shows a heart, its put on a scale to see if its lighter than feather
• Contains prayers and spells

Rosetta Stone

• a huge stone slab inscribed with hieroglyphics
• Greek was one of the 3 written languages in the stone which allowed historians to understand hieroglyphics
