Precambrian (Era)
Oldest era, first prokaryotes appeared, then photosynthetic prokaryotes, followed by eukaryotes, and finally multicellular eukaryotes.

Era dominated by marine life. Had the Cambrian explosion, and included the Ordovician, Silurian, Carboniferous, and Permian periods.
Mesozoic (Era)
Dinosaur's era, split of Pangea occurred, early birds and mammals came into existence.

The modern Era, including the Paleogene and Neogene periods.

Cretaceous (Period)
Continued dinosaur life, ended in EXTINCTION by huge meteorite.

Composed of Paleocene, Eocene, Oligocene epochs, age of mammals
Neogene (Period)
Current period, containing the Miocene, Pliocene, Pleistocene, and Holocene epochs, primates evolving
