Major Depression
Prolonged and persistent periods of extreme sadness; a mood disorder.
Bipolar Disorder
Alternating periods of depression and mania; also called manic depression or bipolar affective disorder.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Persistent and excessive worry about a number of different things; symptoms include constant worry, restlessness, and trouble concentrating.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Physical & mental strain caused by a severely traumatic event where a person has difficulty recovering after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event. Triggers bring back memories of the trauma accompanied by intense emotional and physical reactions.
Dissociative Identity Disorder
Alternating between multiple identities, with gaps in memory of everyday events, personal information, and trauma; formerly known as multiple personality disorder.
Hypochondria
Abnormal anxiety about one's health, with an unwarranted fear of having a serious disease.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Disregarding or violating the rights of others, repeatedly lying, or acting impulsively; no known treatment.
Histrionic Personality Disorder
Attention-seeking disorder where the person exaggerates their emotions.
Phobia
Anxiety disorder defined by a persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation, typically resulting in a rapid onset of fear and present for more than six months.
Schizophrenia
A serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally, resulting in hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behavior that impairs daily functioning.
Dissociative Fugue
Memory loss that causes someone to travel or wander and they usually think that they are someone else
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
A psychological disorder in which a person becomes obsessed with imagery defects in their appearance.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
A pattern of need for admiration and lack of empathy for others, a grandiose sense of self-importance, a sense of entitlement, taking advantage of others or lack empathy
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Uncontrollable recurring thoughts/obsessions/behaviors that a person feels that they have to repeat over and over.
