Sex. Roscius, pater huiusce, municeps Amerinus fuit

Sextus Roscius, the father of this man, was a townsman of Ameria

Cum genere et nobilitate et pecunia non modo sui municipi

He was easily the first man in family and noble lineage and money

Verum etiam eius vicinitatis facile primus

But also of its neighbourhood

Tum gratia atque hospitiis florens hominum nobilissimorum

While in particular he was flourishing from influence and ties of hospitality with the most noble men

Nam cum Metellis, Serviliis, Scipionibus erat hospitium

For he had not only ties of hospitality with the Metelli, the Servilii and the Scipiones

Verum etiam domesticus usus et consuetudo

But also private dealings and friendship

Quas ut aequum est familias honestatis amplitudinisque gratia nomino

Which I name, as is fair, for the sake of honour and distinction

Itaque ex suis omnibus commodis
