Metallic Bonding Definition
Metallic Bonding the Strong Electrostatic attraction between a regular array of positive metal ions in a sea of delocalised electrons.
Why are metals strong?
Metals are strong as they have many strong metallic bonds extending in all directions.
Why are metals malleable?
Metals are malleable as layers of ions are able to slide over one another. The delocalised electrons move too and no bonds are broken.
Why are metals good electrical conductors?
Metals are good electrical conductors as delocalised electrons are able to move and therefore a current can flow.
