Validity
The extent to which a test measures what it claims to measure.
Reliability
The consistency and stability of test scores across repeated administrations.
Predictor
A variable used to predict a criterion or outcome, such as work samples or cognitive tests.
Construct Validity
The degree to which a test accurately represents the theoretical construct it is intended to measure.
Content Validity
The extent to which a test measures all aspects of the construct it is supposed to measure.
Criterion-related Validity
The extent to which a test predicts an outcome or criterion.
Concurrent Validity
A type of criterion-related validity where both the predictor and criterion are measured at the same time.
Predictive Validity
A type of criterion-related validity where a predictor is used to assess a criterion at a future time.
Face Validity
The extent to which a test appears, on the surface, to measure what it claims to measure.
Situational Judgment Test (SJT)
A test presenting hypothetical scenarios to assess decision-making in work-related situations.
Work Sample Assessment
An assessment that requires candidates to perform tasks representative of the actual job they are applying for.
Biodata Inventories
An assessment based on biographical information designed to predict future behavior from past experiences.
Dark Triad
A set of three undesirable personality traits: Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy.
Big Five Personality Traits
A model of personality encompassing five traits: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism.
Faking in Personality Tests
The act of manipulating or falsifying responses to personality tests to present oneself more favorably.
Assessment Centers
Selection methods that evaluate candidates in a group context through a variety of exercises.
Inter-rater Reliability
The level of agreement between different raters assessing the same behavior.
Internal Consistency Reliability
The extent to which test items are homogeneous in terms of responses.
Test-retest Reliability
The stability of test scores across repeated administrations of the same test.
