The appeal of the KKK in the 1920s included an emphasis on being very exclusive. Only “Native,” “Anglo-Saxon,” and Protestant people were allowed. They also took advantage of the current worries abt demographics, and held onto the past and rejected modern culture.

Many film stars portrayed young ppl rebelling from old trad values. An example is Flappers, who put on lots of makeup, wore short skirts and had short hair.
How did prohibition exemplify a traditional/modern divide?
Getting prohibition passed was a success for Reform and Progressive Era, but due to the lack of enforcement and the rise in organized crime, it became a symbol for why the Progressive Era was a bad idea. It was a success or a failure depending on who you asked (trad or modern).
