Definition: a communication technique where a listener focuses completely on the speaker

Characteristics/Facts:

• understands their message

• responds thoughtfully

Example: actively processing information and providing feedback to confirm understanding

Non-example: judging the speaker’s ideas, interrupting the speaker, or checking your phone

tardive dyskinesia

Definitions: a movement disorder characterized by involuntary, repetitive movements

Characteristics/Facts:

movement often found in:

• face

• tongue

• limbs

Example: lip smacking, tongue movements, excessive eye blinking, and/or jerking movements of the torso or limbs

Non-example: tourette syndrome or spontaneous dyskinesia
