METALS
and their alloys are integral part of construction industry. They are employed for various purposes such as structural members, roofing materials, doors, windows, tanks, pipes, etc.
Ferrous metal
are metals or metal alloys that mainly contain iron
Non-ferrous metals
These are metals that contain no iron but also include some alloys that contain appreciably very small amounts or iron.
CONSTRUCTION METALS
Aluminum
commonly used in the industry because it is resistant to corrosion, highly conductive and ductile.
CONSTRUCTION METALS
Copper tubing
which comes in two main types, is often used to construct pipes in buildings.
CONSTRUCTION METALS
Stainless steel
is among one of the oldest known building materials. It was used centuries ago to construct structures that still stand today, thanks to the corrosion and stain resistant properties of the metal.
CONSTRUCTION METALS
Cast iron
formed by remelting Pig Iron, and is useful for a variety of engineering purposes
CONSTRUCTION METALS
Wrought iron
purest form of commercial iron, containing only 0.10% to 0.15% of carbon and less than 0.25% of impurities like sulfur, phosphorous, silicon and manganese.
CONSTRUCTION METALS
Steel
is an alloy of iron, consisting of carbon (usually 0.1 to 1.7%), as a hardening agent.
STEEL SECTIONS
Angle sections
may have equal and unequal legs. Widely used in construction of steel roof trusses
STEEL SECTIONS
T sections
They are used as structural members in the steel roof trusses and also in the buildup sections
STEEL SECTIONS
Channel sections
They consist of one web and two flanges. Used as structural members in steel framed structures.
STEEL SECTIONS
I sections
Popularly known as beams and rolled steel joists, these are used for floor beams, columns, lintels, etc
STEEL SECTIONS
Expanded metal
Used for reinforcing concrete in foundations, roads, bridges, etc. It is also used for partitions
STEEL SECTIONS
Flat bars
Used in grill work for gates, windows, etc.
STEEL SECTIONS
Plates
Used to connect steel beams, roof trusses, tension members, built-up sections, etc
STEEL SECTIONS
Ribbed bars
Used as reinforcement in concrete structures.
STEEL SECTIONS
Square bars
Used in the grill work for gates, windows, etc. Commonly used cross section vary for 5mm to 25mm
STEEL SECTIONS
Round bars
widely used in grill works
