Macbeth Act 5 + Visions

Armed head vision

• you should beware of Macduff

• Macbeth agrees because he knows Macduff has been suspicious of him

Bloody child vision

• no man from a woman will harm Macbeth, he’ll be fine

• Macbeth then says he shouldn't worry about Macduff/ beware of him

A crowned child with a tree in his hand vision

• He won’t be overthrown until the woods come to the castle

• Macbeth says that’s not possible, so he’ll never be overthrown and the trees cannot uproot themselves

Eight kings within the glass that’s a mirror

• Banquo’s lineage will live on and this is shown through the mirror

• Macbeth now starts to get nervous and believes Banquo’s children will become King

Blood

• symbolizes violence, guilt, and ambition

• bloody dagger and bloodied hands after the murders of Duncan and Banquo

• the "damned spot" Lady Macbeth sees on her hands (imaginary) while she’s sleepwalking
