Primary Meristem
Unspecialized tissue that undergoes cell division to produce other plant tissues; found at the tips of branches and roots.
Mitosis
The process of cell division where one cell divides to form two identical daughter cells.
Parenchyma Tissue
The most common plant tissue, characterized by thin-walled, spongy cells; involved in storage, nutrient, and water retention as well as photosynthesis.
Collenchyma
A type of plant tissue with irregularly thickened cell walls that provide support and flexibility to young plant organs.
Meristem
Tissue that constantly divides; responsible for plant growth, found at root tips and shoots.
Helianthus
The scientific genus name for sunflower, often used in studies of plant tissues.
Vacuoles
Cell organelles that store nutrients and waste products, also aiding in maintaining cell turgor.
